Affordable therapies CIC

Supporting you one step at a time

Our team

Hi I'm Ambi, a person-centred counsellor and clinical supervisor. At Affordable Therapies, I provide one-to-one counselling, couples therapy, trauma, grief and loss, group supervision, and facilitate workshops including group therapy. I also work closely with the Counselling Co-ordinator to support the ongoing development and delivery of our counselling service.

I am passionate about making a positive difference in people's lives. I believe we all have an innate capacity for growth and the ability to become our authentic selves. My aim is to offer a safe, trusting, and nurturing therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, valued, and supported in enhancing your emotional well-being.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I am also a coach, mentor, and counselling lecturer. I teach counselling programmes from Foundation Level through to Clinical Supervision (Level 6), supporting students as they develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become reflective and ethical practitioners.

I oversee essential compliance like DBS processing for our therapists and manage financial inquiries.

Joanne Short - Counsellor, Student Placement Manager and Counselling Co-ordinator

Hi I’m Joanne, a person-centred therapist, and I believe that sometimes having someone genuinely listen to us, without judgement or expectation, can make a real difference.

My approach is warm, compassionate and led by you. There is no set agenda and no expectation that you need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about. You can bring whatever feels important to you, whether that’s something that has happened recently, something you have been carrying for a long time, or perhaps simply a feeling that things don’t quite feel right.

I work with both individuals and couples, supporting people through a range of challenges and life experiences. Whether you are seeking support for yourself or looking to understand and improve your relationship with your partner, I will offer a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is happening for you.

I believe you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you rather than tell you what to do. You remain in the driving seat of our journey together, while I provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can begin to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and we can find ourselves experiencing emotions that we weren’t prepared for or don’t fully understand. Therapy can offer an opportunity to slow things down, explore what is happening beneath the surface and, in time, develop a greater sense of understanding, peace and acceptance.

I feel privileged to be able to share this space with people during what can often be a difficult or vulnerable time in their lives. My hope is that you will feel heard, valued and accepted for who you are.

Alongside my therapy work, I also manage client assessments and support our student therapists on placement at Affordable Therapies CIC. I’m passionate about creating a supportive environment not only for our clients, but also for the therapists developing their skills and beginning their therapeutic careers.

If you feel that you might benefit from having someone alongside you, I would be very happy to meet you and see how we might work together. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Fiona Davidsons - Counsellor

I’m an empathetic and compassionate person, and I believe everyone deserves a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where they can talk openly about their thoughts and feelings.

My journey into counselling began with four years as a Samaritans volunteer, where I discovered how much I valued listening to and supporting people through difficult and challenging times. Becoming a therapist felt like a natural progression, and I have found it incredibly rewarding to support people as they develop a greater understanding of themselves and begin to feel more comfortable with who they are.

I have been a qualified therapist for over three years and my approach is Person-Centred Therapy. I believe that people have many of the answers they need within themselves, and that having the right space and support can help those answers emerge.

As a therapist, it's not for me to tell what you should or shouldn’t do. Instead, I will listen without judgement and work alongside you to explore whatever has brought you to therapy. My aim is to provide a space where you feel heard, accepted and able to be yourself.

It is always a privilege to be part of someone’s journey and to see the positive changes that can come from greater self-awareness, understanding and self-acceptance. If you’re considering therapy, I hope to offer you a warm and supportive space to begin that journey.

Caroline Dekkers - Counsellor

Hi I’m Caroline, an experienced Person-Centred, humanistic therapist practising since 2019. I’m passionate about building trustworthy and steadfast relationships with my clients and believe this is the base from which growth can occur.

Sometimes, I work with clients in creative ways (writing, imagery, drawing, music etc..). I aim to provide a space that is grounded, warm and inviting, one where the client feels they can bring whatever they need in order to heal and shift or simply to feel heard and seen in an otherwise chaotic world.

Areas I have worked with include depression, anxiety, loss, self-discovery, self-worth, grief… and more. I welcome my clients with an open mind and most importantly an open heart.

Paris Stephenson - Counsellor

Hi I’m Paris. Usually, I would begin by telling you about my qualifications, but let’s first acknowledge that I’m a human being too, just like you. I don’t have all the answers. Instead, I offer a space where, together, we can explore, gain clarity, and move towards what feels right for you. Whether you’re looking for support through a difficult time, greater self-understanding, or simply somewhere to reflect, I’m here for you.

My work is grounded in the person-centred approach, meaning we focus on what feels important to you. I value heartfelt connections while maintaining the professional boundaries and ethics that help keep therapy safe. I aim to offer a space where we can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, at your own pace.

I’m a registered BACP member with a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling. I also offer a Christian-informed approach for those who wish to integrate their faith into the therapeutic process.

Anthony Palmer - Counsellor

Hi I'm Anthony.  I'm a qualified person-centred therapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

My lifelong belief is that an individual’s personal growth is continuous and contributes directly to the richness and quality of their relationships at home and at work.

Most of my 40 plus year working career has been in Information Technology and Senior Executive Management in a corporate environment where I trained in staff mentoring and coaching.

I also took my coaching expertise into sports and achieved my FA Level 2 Football qualification.

My lifelong interest in people and their behaviour led me to explore psychology and start an open university psychology degree which I was unable to complete because of personal issues.

I, however, had the opportunity to reboot my interest by studying and qualifying for my CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I've been practising as a person-centred therapist since 2022, working across various issues.

It's such a rewarding experience working with clients and witnessing their growth and recognising the change within them.

My extensive experience in business and my Masters in Business Administration (Elective Module in Leadership) puts me in great position to offer coaching for business, career, executive, leadership and personal development.

Matt Clark - Counsellor

Hi I'm Matt.  I'm a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

My approach is rooted in neuroscience and trauma-informed therapy.

It's never about what’s 'wrong' with you, but understanding how your system has responded to your history and environment to keep you safe.

By understanding these mechanisms, we can work together to gently unravel what is holding you back and develop resilient, sustainable strategies for change.

I pride myself on providing a warm, compassionate, and understanding environment where you can feel truly seen and heard.

Sarah Mohammed - Counsellor

Hi, my name is Sarah.

I’m a BACP Registered Member and Integrative Therapist.

I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and supported.

As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to each person, recognising that everyone’s experiences and needs are unique. I work collaboratively with clients at their own pace, to help them explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences, develop a deeper understanding of themselves and work towards meaningful change.

Amber Amayo - Counsellor

I am a person-centred therapist who believes that each person is the expert in their own life. I offer a warm, empathetic and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace.

I have a particular interest in supporting autistic, ADHD and otherwise neurodivergent clients, while welcoming people from all backgrounds and experiences. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, and I aim to create a space where you can feel understood and accepted for who you are, without needing to mask or change yourself to fit expectations.

My ideal clients are thoughtful and sensitive people who may feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. Many of the people I work with have spent years masking, carrying things alone, or feeling misunderstood. I aim to support clients in developing greater self-understanding, strengthening self-trust, and moving towards a more authentic, balanced and sustainable way of living.

You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy, and you don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about. We can start wherever you are and explore whatever feels important to you.

If you're looking for a space where you can be yourself, feel heard without judgement, and begin to make sense of your experiences, I would be very happy to hear from you
